Democracy Vs Mobocracy Vs Nationalism Vs Sovereign State Vs Capital punishment

Democracy:

A system of government in which power is vested in the people, who rule either directly or through freely elected representatives.

Mobocracy:

Rule or domination by the masses.

Nationalism:

Is a belief or political ideology that involves an individual identifying with, or becoming attached to, one's nation.

Sovereign state:

Is a state with borders where people live, and where a government makes laws and talks to other sovereign states. The people have to follow the laws that the government makes.

When 2014 results of Saffron party’s massive victory came in, it was termed in by the so called liberals as win of mobocracy, a majoritarian government which is in fact a threat to the very fabric of Secular fabric of this country.

The scenes were recreated a few days back with a baffling amount of interest by group of elitist people and human right activists to question hanging of a proven terrorist. There was a run from pillar to post to challenge the verdict and in a historic milestone created by the judiciary, they listen to both side of argument till dawn literally and gave logical conclusion to a never ending saga.

While I write strongly backing the verdict on this particular case, I don’t want to sound a nationalist while pronouncing my point of view. It’s critical that we understand the difference between nationalist mindset and a state of mind which believes in a Sovereign state to which I lean. One question in the pretext of this article of mine of which I never got an answer is: Why can’t I be liberal when I subscribe to Sovereign state?

Few reasonable questions that come in mind to argue against it are:

• Why the minorities are always on the eye of storm?
• Why they always have to bear the brunt of a political unsettling?
• Why the epitome of unfair justice’s sword only hangs over their head?
• Why there is a majoritarian view that they are the epicenter of all the wrongs happening in country?

To be frank, I also subscribe to most of above questions but I wish to strongly differ from the point of view of liberals which is: “The true test of democracy is its protection of minority rights.” My reason to not agreeing this is very fundamental, when you look at favoring a side for whatever reason, how could you provide equal voice and rights to everyone in a democracy? In my view it’s nothing but appeasement. Such motivated events unfortunately bring in sense of unrest in a mostly pluralistic society of India.

However, the crux of this article is not to question liberal point of view but to question the obnoxious run of liberals to save a proven convict to prove a democratically elected government and independent judiciary’s decision wrong. Democracy is sure going to allow plural point of view but that shouldn’t suppress the essence of being righteous. While one can definitely subscribe to a point of view of why people shying away from discussing what was the root cause of this event that led these blasts is not being discussed, like Babri masque demolition and riots that took place after that. There is very limited to none who were booked for that. I totally agree to that; however that doesn’t dilute the gravity of the Mumbai bomb blasts. One could also sum up Babri Masque being staged due to Shan Bano case till reservation based on caste which in my opinion one of the most pivotal death of democracy. How could "not convicting people responsible for riots" are given as an excuse to do away with an anti-national activity, BTW when said as anti-national, it doesn’t mean it’s a nationalist thought. It’s an act against a sovereign state and that needs to be dealt in the most defining way and judiciary took cognizance of that in the decision. There is no doubt that death penalty to an innocent man is the biggest miscarriage of justice but even those who support the convict in this case can’t stand by his innocence.  

Lastly, the point of death penalty doesn’t deter crime. In this specific case, the message one get from the same argument would be that it’s fine to collude with enemy state to conspire against own land and still brave out after serving a sentence of a decade or two and become role model for such anti national conspiracy. The notion of key conspirators being still at large and only small fishes facing wrath of nation is also misplace, it doesn’t bring down gravity of the co-conspirators crime. When you know the consequences and impact of the act and still becoming party to such heinous crime then you lose out on crying against made the scape goat. Those human right activists should also answer the question: How come these guys have right to live but not the poor victims? Those who are terming this verdict as state sponsored murder and leveling them to the same level as these conspirators are missing the most poignant point which is that in this case, both sides were given enough opportunities to defend their point of view and only when it was established as guilty and by taking cognizance of the nature of crime as rarest of rare the quantum of punishment was decided. Unless those victims in the blast were given even iota of these opportunities, you can’t level state at criminal’s level. I am sure given an opportunity of all them would run to the same battery of human right activities to save themselves.

In conclusion, democracy may be a failed affair but still remains the moral fabric of Sovereign state and as long as judiciary remains independent we will never fall prey to ultra-nationalism to which liberals are crying foul, of course mobocracy still remains a distinct and dim possibility.

Die Another Day!

How beautiful a day looks from that window when those drops of rains drip on your face, I could still feel the famous rains in Mumbai when almost any effort to hide from rain was in vein due to its intensity. But there is another grim reality that brings haunting memories of these rains as I still remember 7/11 train blast like it was yesterday. I was on train the same day and while I got down at my station unharmed that day many others weren’t that lucky.

A city of dream for many including me has catered needs of all the classes but yet the wounds of this city have no healing what so ever. While the government has shown apathy towards the real security threat to the city even the people within haven’t learnt from their mistakes. I know for fact that 90% of metal detectors are non functional including the CST station which was the playground last time for Kasab’s act. The areas which are hot spots (Like Zaveri Bazar) for a terror strike have no logistical support from even locals otherwise how in such crowded places someone can reiki and plant bombs undetected like walk in the park.

As the rain lashes out the final nails in the coffin of the misery of a common man in the city, it again bring that cliché of spirit of Mumbaikars . To me it’s like a sickening sense of DejaVu with history to this glamorous financial capital of India. I feel pity on these high spirited Mumbaikar, people in the city have not learnt how life moves on after such incidents but they are fearfully waiting to “Die Another Day”

It’s been almost a year since I had written anything on my blog but then sometimes it’s the sovereignty of not only country but also to my most beloved city Mumbai that sinks me deep inside and emotions can’t be held back.

Me Ajmal Kasab Boltoy

History has it, neither Raavana nor Nathuram Godse were given a chance to tell their side of story. The verdict was given without prejudice because the other side belonged to the legend. Please don't let Ajmal Kasab join the same league, in what ever way the earlier were legend in their own way, even history can't deny it.

Ever since the lone survivor of the Mumbai holocaust had been given a fair chance of trial in the so called world's biggest democracy, I see many people coming in defence of Ajmal Kasab. The so called human rights organizations are circling around government to have a human touch toward the young Ajmal, perhaps they don't see Khap phanchyat's verdict over same gotra marriage. If there were real human right activists in this country which has scored top 10 from the bottom in the best places to live for mothers, perhaps a mother would have felt proud to deliver a baby girl. I don't think working on these grass root issues gives media coverage or political funding. The human rights organizations work for quick fame to stardom and for grilling political pressure. They are all motivated by some or other perks they see. Otherwise in a country of 1 billion where 60% people live below poverty line I wonder how human rights can get time to even think for a foreign terrorist who had mercilessly killed many innocent fellow countrymen.

Often I hear debate over the capital punishment, even the supreme court of India has also reserved the punishment for the rarest of rare situations. As per human rights this punishment if violation of democracy in this country, how true!!

Human rights back the Naxals as according to them they are victim of system, a system which is only made to serve higher cast, a constitution which is only made to cater the richer but what they don't even think is the constitution is brain child of a poor lower cast Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. I guess some food for thought for them. I fail to understand how some elite panel can suggest that keeping Kasab alive will help India to make their case strong in front of entire world against terrorism. Are they out of their mind or something, I guess so!! How could you better prove that this was a clear case of premeditated massacre which was telecasted live across the same world for three long days. The mastermind of 26/11 are harbored by the terror paradise and doesn't matter what may come they would not stop breeding terrorists. I urge the human right activists to
go and have their noble job of working for mankind get executed in neighboring country. Anyone for taking this job...Medha Patkar or any Naxal sympathizer are you listening??

I don't want another Kasab to think that if he is captured alive he will be given VIP treatment in this country. The hottest media celebrity who appears in world media more than the top world leaders. I don't want anyone else to make mockery of this country anymore. Enough humiliation has been already delivered by the top brass be it environment minister Jairam's comments and actions over many topics, be it alleged involvement of former minister Shashi Tharoor in IPL controversy or the latest traitor IFS officer Madhuri Gupta.

Ajmal Kasab doesn't deserve anything more than his destined final destination by the judiciary.

Once Upon A Time In Bastar........

I still distinctly remember my childhood days when I used to go almost every second week to Dantewada along with my family. I spent three years of my childhood in Bastar and that was one of the most enchanting experiences. So close to nature that you could feel the serenity, dense forest, scenic mountains and the most amazing tribal culture tantrums. It was a hidden paradise which would surprise you every time. Not any more……….

It's been long since I had made an entry to my blog, I didn’t get a topic enough provocative to shed my thoughts on that. But time has come when I should raise my voice for my motherland “Chhattisgarh” and its lost paradise “Bastar”. In what can be termed as one of the most ruthless and gruesome attack on the security personnel, focus has again shifted to the tainted fate of Chhattisgarh and it is again in news for not good reasons.

Even 76 martyrs is not a good reason for the center and state government to stop politicizing the issue. Everyone is washing their hands from taking moral responsibility of this massacre. According to home minister “Buck stops at Chief Minister”, according to Chief Minister laps is from the CRPF team which didn’t know the terrain and hence got into the Naxal trap and CRPF is saying they were not aware of this operation at all.


This year more security force has been compromised to death in Naxal attacks than in fighting terrorist but still government doesn’t have any firm and affirmative steps chalked out to counter Naxals. The biggest enemy is inside and government is busy in bilateral talks with rebel nations, pathetic!

One point that concerns me the most is how the terrorists and Naxals are so well equipped to tackle elite Indian forces? It makes me wonder how can an Azmal Kabas who hails from a poor village where he didn’t had enough to have two times meal is being turned in a span of few months an ace terrorist who killed best in the country. My amazement just gets broadened when I see an Azmal Kasab fighting case and defending himself like he is a professional advocate, he just doesn’t give up. This makes mockery of our system, more than that it’s something which should be taken as learning from the government. At times to tackle your enemy you need to fit yourself in their shoes and that’s the need of the hour.


I have no doubt saying Indian government doesn’t have adequate expertise to handle such intrusion. For the fact condition in which our poor sacrificing soldiers live is pathetic. They don’t even get proper nourishment, no water, no food, no electricity and no communication from outside world and they are expected to deliver. Too much for asking and then on top of that if someone comes and raises questions over the competency of these honest soldiers who are ready to give their lives for their country would that be reasonable? I don’t think that there is requirement of all party consensus for taking a stern and tough action against rebel Naxals but firstly they should train the soldiers to handle the devil they need to face, they also need to be ruthless and sharp and they shouldn’t leave even a single opportunity to siege or neutralize them.


I guess now even the tribal regions and other Naxal sympathetic population is slowly turning anti-naxal with their contrasting behavior, if naxals wanted freedom of tribal’s and equal opportunity for the people they lead then they should have been interested in talks with center but they are now eyeing for taking over the country by 2050. Well I must say it’s quite impressive to see them thinking so big but as far as history goes any such rebel growth was completely wiped out from the nation. Be it the Punjab issue or the naxal problem in 70’s in West Bengal or in 90’s in Andhra Pradesh. One can doubt a big political lobbying behind the naxal movement, it’s almost impossible to get them access on such state of the art technology and artillery they are using against the forces until they are protected from people sitting in plush locality of South Delhi. And they do have motive for doing so, first to unstable the ruling state government and then take over all the state and become the parasite to suck blood. In either way the poor tribal fraternity is going to come under fire. I don’t think the real naxal movement which was for the libration of these unheard tribal voices exists anymore. Now it’s all about getting power by hook or by crook. My heart goes for those innocent lives who are getting lost in the cross fire amidst this power struggle. I know for the fact that no one is fighting this for helping someone but only for their personal gain.

Yeh Jo Des Hai Mera….

India, a country of diversity.
Though diversity can be subjected to prejudice of an individual, one can say cultural another can say regional but for me with the events happening around lately it seems more likely to be of excuses and of people reluctant to face reality.

With neighbors from across the borders are piercing through the part of country, be it Arunachal Pradesh in North-East, Northern region getting invaded via J&K or the LLTE sneaking through the southern part and the most atrocious breach had been from the Western region which had targeted financial capital Mumbai, we are actually in state of war but the most unfortunate of all is despite being grilled from across the globe our leadership is more concerned about twittering of some not so political politicians, a gross matter of shame for a country.

How could a country sit back and watch their countrymen abroad being thrashed and smacked right on face, humiliated to the core in such a way that the very existence of their morality is shaken and their faith on law and justice takes backstage which leads them to take it in their hand, unfortunate though but no other country is so spineless that they would let aliens on their soil disturb their harmony except us.

We, the people are that ostrich who is not ready to see danger coming and would rather like to duck his head in sand pretending no one will see him but the truth is in this process, we are letting ourselves in even deeper trouble. The most unfortunate part is we are never ready to unite when the national integrity is on stake, we the people are one of a kind who would rather like to play blame game where sometime perhaps getting your hand dirty is the need of hour to resolve a conflict or save our self-respect with dignity. When our country was under attack 26/11, two of the biggest parties didn’t even care to show their unity rather they used it as a political mileage game in the forth coming elections. I feel really saddened when I see tears of one are sold as election manifesto material. As a progressive and one of the most powerful country in south-east Asia, we never played the role of big brother when it was required, be it the anarchy situation in Nepal or mass slaughtering and genocide in neighboring country Sri Lanka. When Taliban almost took over Pakistan, we didn’t even care to straighten our borders to avoid any intrusion from border. We always portray our self as peaceful country but with our stands on issues, we surely are being taken cowardice therefore no one gives a second thought before running over us. Even Bangladesh, a country who won its country status courtesy us butchered our soldiers and is constantly promoting terrorist activities via its borders but for us, it makes no difference. I felt humiliated when the Australian Prime Mister warned Indian’s not to take law in hand against the ferocious attacks happened on them in recent past and our leadership didn’t even raise a concern over well being and protection of their county men. Such a preposterous stand!

We are still ready to shake hands with Pakistan diplomacy on International summits but we never take a tough stand against them. There is always a CBI enquiry demand over high profile murders and when they are not resolved the agencies are blamed but what we always forget to remember that we never asked for an enquiry on innocent soldiers being killed over ignorance of political negligence. If the human rights make law agencies run for their money over harassment and vandalization of human rights, I wonder why they don’t consider the soldiers on border being human as well. Perhaps media attention can only be raised for these patriots on Kargil day or on Independence Day.


Now it’s pretty hard to understand that this so called ride of austerity would make any difference to the slaps on the face of our nation humiliating every now and then by the encroachment happening across borders and the unfair prejudice for our people abroad. Is the government cutting down their personal expenses to add more money in the defense budget? well to me it’s very difficult to understand how a country who is being suffering from challenges like border encroachment, cross border terrorism, naxalism, communal stress, poverty, draught and population explosion is only bothered about what book X politician has written on Y person or which minister is staying five stars on their own expenses.

These are non real issues and ideally shouldn’t need this much attention from the government, a government is to govern the nation not to peek-a-boo in which class their ministers are traveling or which place they are staying. These cheap publicity stunts are not going to help them for a longer run. The shining India campaign actually became the final nail in coffin of BJP government since you can fool a nation for sometime but not for eternity, another Kargil is on its way until our Ostrich doesn’t take out its head from the sand and get ready to face real issues. Until then how any Mohan Bargava would like to come back to India?

Dreamz Unlimited

Beauty lies in the eyes of viewer, while some people believe that the inner beauty of someone can only give that last longing fragrance other differs as to them the charm and karisma holds the key to make the first impression as the last impression.

A woman is full of substance: her aura, elegance, panache and perseverance are the metal characteristics of her that holds grace while she stands tall in competing with the tough world around her. It's ironical though this power of self awareness wasn't available for her to assess her credibility and importance earlier. Not just playing a loving mother, a caring wife or a sensible sister but to come out of that nutshell, stereo typed image and prove herself in every field. I feel saddened when I see this world around not just ignoring this super power but also engrossing them by talibanizing their freedom, by vandalizing her intimate escape by trashing her out of pub in Mangalore. The visuals from the Swat Wally and Mangalore would leave you dumb and deaf continues the curse on this species which is a total contrast to the ladies who were walking on the ramp just a day after this dreadful event took place in Pakistan glorifying and proving their charm once again in the miss India pageant. It's so unusual that a split second gives that ever lasting identity to stand as a distinct personality in crowd, really not everyone is entitled to have it but surely they don't deserve the embarrassment and awkward feeling they might go through while Taliban flog them publicly, passing by punks pass comment with a giggle. Handling power is something which is not everyone's cup of tea but no one can deny that our country's top most political influences are none other than elite fleet of women: Sonia Gandhi, Mayawati, Jayalalita, Sheela Dixit to name a few.

We the Asian subcontinent live in a hypocrite society which believes type casting women in a supportive role, we believe that every successful man has a woman behind him but never acknowledge her sacrifice for doing so. Any step up from them is seen as voilation of rules, really contrasting to the western world but just hold a second even the good old Western world is not less behind. We the commonwealth nation still prays for well being of Queen but ironically history is proof of the pathetic condition of women in west as well. While I am in total agreement that a woman has to show their apprehension to a certain extent and in certain situation but that doesn't necessarily mean they need to compromise on their dreams. Dreams are the real motivation in everyone's life, without them life is similar to that waiting room where no train comes. Dreams are not bound to gender but to belief, if that wasn't the case then Kalpana Chwala, Sunita Williams wouldn't have left their home earth to rendezvous with space. I wonder what would have happened to them if they were from Swat Wally where spending just a brisk walk with a stranger promises you flogging publicly. Dreams can only come to existence when one dares to take actions to compliment them, unfortunately still the dreams for these wonderful ladies are tamed and modified to fit into a happy family. Times have changed now for sure and they have their feet on cloud, left their home for the persuit of happiness by fulfilling their childhood dreams, becoming Miss India or IPS officer, may be gracing the most powerful position in world being US president (Like Hillary Clinton did). Dreams are unlimited and they are open to all, it just requires an environment where everyone can inculcate them, we are in 21st century and as growing world we must come to the understanding that just by suppressing dreams you can't overpower someone, if you wish to overpower someone then you must beat them by outperforming in all the fields. Physically challenging someone merely shows the sick attitude of being hypocrite, nothing else.

I don't personally endorse any woman liberalization but I have my respect for them, I always want them to be looked as respected persons, someone who is not just a Cl'ech'e, not just another show piece in showcase. If you can't respect someone then at least please don't disrespect!!

The Fear Factor

Question: How much force is required to let an entire country come to halt?
Answer: Only 20 people. (Or even less)

Remark might sound absurd but in last three days we have witnessed the same happening on our home soil at my beloved city of dreams "Mumbai".

Our country has been under constant attacks from terror groups and this year we have seen the hardest hits, despite being cautious we are still very much vulnerable. The disgraceful act has been carried out by so called Jihadis for whom carring out such acts is a path shown by their prophet to meet god almightly by killing innocent people who don't believe in their god. Under desparate outcry one always tend to blame a specific religion or groups from the same religion but don't reach to such immature conclusion, the sheer scale on which the operation by the militants have been carried points out to the sinister strategic intent which surely is an attempt to destabilise India's rise. We India are in making of next global super power and surely as your height grows you make others feel more shorten which hurts a lot. We have always took a peaceful stand on any of the incident happened around the world and shown own fullest support to the needy. But being peaceful seems to have evaluated as cowardly which is the reason why we are under constant attacks from past few years. We are in state of war since we have got our independence. War between religions groups for a peice of land, war between politicians for a seat in the assembly and now a proxy way against terrorism. The only reason we don't have tranquility in our country is because we are not united. Before blaming others we need to wash our own hands. Breach of India's sovereignty is firstly need an evaluation within, I really feel saddened when I say that I have lost faith in our leadership, the people who we have voted to protect our rights are just staying back and safegurding their seat and life. We are out here helpless ready to face another bullet.

The condition in country couldn't go any worst than this when a common man is not safe any place. Government is just sitting back and watching the proceeding, none of our leaders have enough courage and guts to come to the war site and address to the nation, come to the Gateway of India and address the nation that we stand united and we are affirmative to provide protection and safety to citizens of India. The entire world is watching our steps as the calamity is getting international involving people being hostage around the world and at this point of time such casual approach from the top notch officials really puts our image on backfoot and our country in rather emabarrasing situation. The time has come to take hard actions, we don't require any prescription or remedy on dealing with attacks from anyone, we are currently in a rotten state from where no medicine would help. This would require a clean-up operation to ensure safeguarding a common man.

What's the use of country growing with a GDP of 8 when you can't even walk freely, when things are so hostile around then who would like to be part of the India shining campaign, I am afraid if the conditions don't change from this then the curtains on the shining India would fall shortly. But only blaming government would not solve the matter. Solution needs to come from within, from all of us. How many people must have seen these terrorist coming through to the city from Gateway of India, did anyone give a call to police on their suspicion? I guess not even one phone rang in any police station before the gun started blazzing. When people around asks why we are getting targetted so badly while US after 9/11 incident has not been targetted even once? The only reason is the proactiveness and awareness a common man has there, no one there gives a second thought before calling 911. We need to understand that law-order and police is here to protect us, barring all the incidents which have been flashed repeatedly on news channels over the currupted image of these fraternities, we have always seen these real heroes at rescue when even required the most. One must respect the courage and willingness of our soldiers who are ready to risk their own life without giving a second thought just to save a common man. The time has come for us to change our mindset for these gentlemen and pay more respect to them, they are our real saviors amidst all the turmoil around. Charity begins at home and one need to be the change they want to see in the world. The time has come not to be judgemental but to take action and follow them to ensure safety of yourself and your loved one. If everyone can take care of their own then life will be much easier and the world will be more secure, although quite a hypothetical statement but this is something which is a desparate need of the time we are living.

The target audiance for being converted into Jihadis are the innocent young men (Should be called boys) who belong to the a community for which surviving on their own is a mammoth task forget about taking care of their families. With a poor backgroup and an uneducated life style they are the right choice to breed and inculcate poision in heart for hatered against a special group of people or religion. The brainwashing for such people is so intense that the fear of life goes away from them and that's when they become the most dangerous animals for humanity. There is a very thin line between human and animals, we need to stand on the otherside of the line to ensure that we don't forget we are human with conscious and by killing someone, shading blood will take us no where other than a dreadful end where there will be no solace but only solitude, a dark tragedy which will eventually swallow the humanity from heart of every human, once that will happen there will be lots of blood and unanswered quesitons.
