Who Is King?

The latest buzz around the country: Singh is King, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the only second person to come into power consecutive times after Jawahar Lal Nehru, certainly a delightful moment for him and his party; it’s time for celebrating hard work of past five years which finally paid off. Congress has done a clean sweep in the election to shut mouths of its critics once for all. It’s not only victory of their party but also of their leadership, vision and actions. People around the country would say its victory of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh: Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi. They were the trump cards of this election and they played their part with complete honesty, while Sonia did her implacable political maneuvering to the best, Mahmohan was busy doing office homework dutifully to ensure that despite lack of resources and enormous pressure around the world, government work to the best of their capability which may need him to take multiple department weight on his aging shoulders, Rahul Gandhi revived the so called “Bhudhiya” Congress with his fresh young appeal which finally turned the table in most of the constituencies and states, Uttar Pradesh to mention one of the most important. His connection with the youth and humble association with people of all sorts made him a house hold name, the most illegible bachelor of the country. I ask myself one question: Is this the real reason why congress came into power? Well despite being quite conclusive this isn’t what I think was the real reason of this election outcome. I personally don’t think that these are the real kings and queens of this election, for me Singh is NOT King with no offence to the great man. Why do I think so……….?
I was told that I live in a democracy and the definition of democracy is a government by the people for the people. This time a common man in India voted not for his religion, not for his state, not even for his biases but he voted for stability. A common man out there was afraid of getting a pink slip when he reach to office everyday, he was afraid he won’t be able to meet his loan EMIs, he was afraid that he won’t be able to feed his family if the inflation arose and most importantly he was afraid of security for his family. He never wants his innocent family to be engrossed by a communal tragedy or in a terrorist attack from no where. What went wrong for the opposition is they played for Congress to lose; you can’t win a game if you are playing to make someone lose but you need to play for win. Congress did their home work well and they projected what they did well for a common man in last five years. Be it the fiscal package for farmers, the N-Deal which gave recognition around the world as a nuclear powerhouse, status as a country who can build power on their own or most importantly the handling of Satyam debacle. While the world around was shedding blood economically not only did government and RBI take steps to ensure that the ripple effect shouldn’t impact a common man but also ensured that the biggest burning issue inflation is kept under control. The relaxation in tax to a common man were also some of the key steps which gave relief to pocket of a common man. Barring all these we witnessed an unprecedented rise in terror attacks on the country since Congress came in power. The government took appropriate steps to satisfy a common man, forget opposition they are there to oppose government on any action they take. A common man saw all this and voted for the good work done by government.
A common man doesn’t want any Godhara to repeat neither he wants another Babri Masjid incident to show up, what he really he wants is peace and growth within country. Gone those days when you could have influence people on communal grounds, that cheap dirty politics which worked earlier won’t work now. Long before I was born in 1977 the same Indian people had shown doors to the monarchy of Congress in the country because they were fed up of it, they then also wanted peace and growth as much as they want it today. When ever a common man’s existence and his rights are put on stake, he has voted himself out of it. It was the case yesterday, he proved it today and I have my full faith that if tested tomorrow same will happen. In my eyes it’s the victory of democracy, victory of common man. He is the real hero who swiftly made his move to save the country going towards a non-secular path once again. As a common man of India, today I am happy that I am still the king of country and will always remain.
